Winter is practically here and it's time to start taking a little extra care of the hair on our heads if we want it to be looking its best when the hotter weather finally rolls back around! There are many oils and hair masks you can buy in store but if you find yourself desperate and a little strapped for cash then there are a few hair saviours possibly lying around in your kitchen! Here are 4 DIY hair masks, each one only using 2-3 ingredients, super moisturising, clean, fast and easy to make.

Avocado, Olive Oil and Honey This is a mask great for eliminating frizz and static we've probably accumulated from wearing our woollen hats and scarfs. This is the ultimate frizz fighter, in only 30 minutes you'll achieve  smooth, sleek, soft locks that are static and frizz free. Use this mask once every week for best results, a perfect mask for a relaxing self care session on a wintery Sunday. This mask is full of mono unsaturated fatty acids that are present in ripened avocado's, this seeded berry holds more fatty acids than olive oil meaning this is a mask that will thoroughly moisturise and strengthen every strand of your hair.

Use : One well ripened avocado, one table spoon of honey and 2 table spoons of olive oil. Mix well, apply to clean hair and leave for 30 mins. Shampoo out.

Avocado And Mayo The prolonged wearing of ear muffs, woolly hats and scarfs means that during the winter period most of the population suffers with a dry scalp or nape of the neck. An itchy scalp that they can't help but scratch can result in flaking of skin and a really sore scalp. This little mask helps to moisturise hair but mainly works on soothing dry, sore and itchy skin on both scalps and at the neck of your hair line. Mayonnaise is made up of oil and eggs but mayonnaise also contains vinegar. Vinegar helps to fight dry scalp whilst the avocado will nourish your hair leaving both scalp and hair feeling fresh and healthy!

Use:  One well ripened avocado, One tablespoon of mayonnaise. Mix together well. Apply evenly to clean hair and make sure you rub the mixture into your scalp. Leave on for 20 - 30 minutes and rinse out. Rinse out with a dry scalp shampoo for added moisture and extra relief.

Fresh-Honey-Ointment

Apple cider vinegar and honey Apple Cider Vinegar is widely used to remove colour from hair, so this might sound like a really drying mask but its great at removing colour, gunk or built up products such as hairspray or hair gel. Build up of products can cause hair to look dull, this mask is great at reviving that natural shine for a healthy look. Honey is the ingredient that revives the shine making it look super healthy, apple cider vinegar will clean each strand for a fresh mane.

Use: Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of olive oil and two tablespoons of honey. Apply evenly to clean hair and leave on 20-30 minutes. shampoo out.

Mayonnaise Honey Eliminate winter dryness with this super moisturising mayo mask, this is a super heavy rich mask full of oils. As it is so oily you should make sure to only use this once every week otherwise you could end up with greasy hair. Perfect mask for reviving dry, damaged and frost bitten locks!

Use :  mix half cup of mayo with 2 tablespoons of honey, apply evenly to clean hair and leave on for 30 minutes. Shampoo out, refrain from using conditioner as you wont need it.
